Bramble Babies

Bramble Babies is a gentle outdoor session where babies explore nature, and parents can relax, connect, and enjoy simple moments together.

Bramble Woods

 Monday Afternoon 1.00-2.00

This session is for babies who are newborn up to  independently sitting.

Bramble Babies is a calm and welcoming space for parents and little ones to enjoy the outdoors together.

I know from my own experience that indoor baby groups can feel hot and overwhelming. My babies (and I!) were always happier outside — even a walk or a cup of tea in the garden made a difference.

Through my work with Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, I saw how much parents and babies benefit from slowing down in nature. These sessions build on that experience.

Sessions

Each session includes exploring natural items with your baby, singing nursery rhymes, and a simple wellbeing activity for parents, complete with a warm drink by the campfire. There’s no pressure — if your baby wants to feed, sleep, or simply snuggle, that’s absolutely fine.

These sessions are all about slowing down, connecting with nature, and finding joy in time spent outdoors with your little one.

  • Clothing

Layers are key for enjoying time outdoors — make sure both babies and grown-ups are dressed comfortably. Playing outside is so much more fun when everyone feels warm, dry, and able to move freely!

What to Wear In The Woods
  • Dress in comfortable layers that can be added/removed.

  • Hats & mittens in colder months; sunhat in summer

  • Waterproofs or all-in-one

  • Breathable fabrics to keep the baby comfy

  • Bring a blanket or sling cover for extra warmth

  • For parents: sturdy footwear is essential and layer up, you also need to be comfortable!

  • Hot Drinks

There’s nothing more comforting than a warm drink while enjoying the woods. Tea, coffee, and hot chocolate will be provided at each session. You’re welcome to bring your own mug — it’s a little like Goldilocks, sometimes your personal cup is “just right”! Don’t worry if you forget one; we always have some spares.

  • Parking

We’re lucky to use Cavendish Association’s car park. Please be respectful of local residents and park in the area closest to the Bramble Wood gate. To ease congestion when leaving, follow the one-way system signposted at the car park exit. The gate will be locked after each session, so please do not leave cars behind. Vehicles are left at owners’ risk.

  • Access & Terrain

The woods are natural, which means paths are uneven, bumpy, and sometimes slippery. An all-terrain buggy should manage most paths, but a carrier or sling may be helpful. If you need to bring a pram, especially with multiple little ones, let me know before the session and I’ll meet you in the car park to help.
